Ever sit and stare at nothing, trying to find the right inspiration for something you need to do? Perhaps, you're even looking for something TO DO. I know I do from time to time.
So, what can you do?
At first, I think it's very important to know WHAT you're willing to do. Are you just frustrated with sitting, doing nothing? Do you want to create something? Be creative? Perhaps inspire someone else? Or just work on that one project you have? You can.
Act on it!
When you've found what you'd like to do; when you've set your goal, yet feel uninspired to start achieving something: consider doing one or more of the following:
- Read blogs related to your goal.
- Look at work of others, that relate to your goal. In my case, when I'm looking for inspiration for a new mix; I listen to mixes of artists I respect, like Richie Hawtin.
- If you have some: Look at related (aged) work of yourself, look for the things you like in your own work. It'll help you raise the bar and if you challenge yourself to be better than that.
- A personal favorite of mine: Visualize the steps needed. I even write them down in a todo list. This confirms to myself that I've committed to my goal. By breaking your goal down into smaller goals, creating visible steps of action. You'll be inspired because you can SEE how the next action affects the overall goal. It'll also get you started which brings me to my final tip.
- Start. Just begin working when you know where you'd like to work to. It'll flow naturally. (and if not: Look at this list again ;-))
But most of all: Enjoy every minute of it. It's your goal, so why bother working on something you do not enjoy?
